2005 - Andrew Stevenson and Angus McPhail (Skipinnish Records)
The 2005 Shell LiveWIRE Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award (Scotland) was won by Andrew Stevenson and Angus McPhail and their business Skipinnish Records.
The entrepreneurs behind Skipinnish, Andrew Stevenson and Angus MacPhail, originally got together in 1997 to form a traditional Scottish ceilidh band before going on to form their record label. They currently have 20 of the most highly acclaimed Scottish traditional music albums in their portfolio. The pair, Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama graduates, also run the Skipinnish Ceilidh House Oban.
Their planned next step will see the pair open a new venue in Fort William. On the venture Andrew had the following to say: “We are looking forward to having a traditional music venue in the town. We know from experience there are a good number of supporters of trad music in the area, and we hope that they will enjoy our venue as much as the tourists who visit.”
