1998 - Fraser Hay (Health Scope Direct)
Scotsman Fraser Hay won the 1998 Shell LiveWIRE Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award with his business, Health Scope Direct.
The tremendous rise in interest in natural and alternative remedies is ensuring a healthy business for Fraser Hay and his Banffshire-based business.
Fraser set up his mail order business in December 1996 after eight weeks market testing a range of seaweed-based health and beauty products. His eight-page catalogue includes two of his own registered products: ‘Tired Leg Gel’, and ‘BLT’ - a product for bottoms, legs and thighs to help tone and firm muscle.
At the time of winning, over 6,500 people across the country were regularly buying from Health Scope Direct and the business had already received contracts from two mail order catalogues, and had undertaken promotions with People’s Friend and Chat magazines, which generated thousands of new customers.
Today, Fraser runs his own business development company The Results Academy. He has also gone on to author three books on business including 'How to Make Money on Ecademy'.
