2004 - Neil Farish and Neil Tierney (Lightweight Medical Ltd.)
Neil Farish and Neil Tierney are the young entrepreneurs behind the Scottish borders-based company Lightweight Medial Ltd. Lightweight Medical is a visionary company which specialises in turning complex problems into usable, useful and compelling products and services by involving the customer at all stages of development.
ELEMENT ZERO_SIX is the product development house of Lightweight Medical, specialising in strategy, research and design operating in the fields of technology, innovation and sustainability. It is through this brand name that the company carries out most of their work. The name ELEMENT ZERO_SIX stems from the 6th element in the periodic table, Carbon. As through the creation of new products and services, the company is aiming to reducing carbon emissions. It is also representative of the 6th and overarching element of our design process – ‘06 Sustainability & Strategy’, which drives everything they do.
ELEMENT ZERO_SIX began as the design element of Lightweight Medical with an original business plan to licence healthcare IP in the form of patents to healthcare equipment manufacturers for a royalty of product sales. Lightweight Medical was founded on the development of a lighter weight and more usable neonatal transport incubator for the UK market.
